The Amazing Spider-Man 112-113 :1st Hammerhead Doctor Octopus Aunt May Gwen Stacy Gang War Doc Ock

Episode 73.  James B and Eddie are discussing two issues involving Doctor Octopus and this week Eddie finally has a bit more to say than he has lately.
(0:58) In The Amazing Spider-Man 112 “Spidey Cops Out” Spidey drops off Martin Blank, the Gibbon in the hospital and tells the nurse to burn his costume Spidey worries about his Aunt May.  As if worrying about his Aunt was not enough, Peter has to worry about JJJ who is on his case for not taking any photos lately. Spider-Man shakes down a criminal and finds out there is a gang war going on in Midtown.  Who are these gang leaders?

(7:30) In The Amazing Spider-man 113 “they call the doctor… Octopus!” we begin with Doc Ock whacking the strength enhancing exoskeleton suit from Spidey’s while informing him that he must die! Spidey is very ill and just as Doc Ock is removing his mask he blinds him with web , allowing for a quick exit.  Spidey may have the upper hand against Doc Ock but can he handle the new villain “Hammerhead”?

The Amazing Spider-Man 110-111 : The Gibbon first appearance Kraven the Hunter Gwen Stacy Aunt May Disappears

Episode 72.  James B and Eddie are joined once again by host of the Marvel Events Timeline Podcast, Travis Bow to break down the first appearance of The Gibbon.
(2:00) The Amazing Spider-Man 110 “The Birth of The Gibbon” Peter is worried that Gwen will choose Flash over him.  He’s also got no photos from his recent battles and he needs money.  In a fit of stupidity he hurls his camera which is caught by agile Martin Blank.  Martin is depressed about being freakish looking and Spider-Man tries to cheer him up.
(11:29) The Amazing Spider-Man 111 “To Stalk a Spider”
An injured Kraven the Hunter is revealed to be the character watching the Gibbon from the end of issue110, he convinces The Gibbon that they both hate Spider-Man. Meanwhile Spider-man is seen breaking into Aunt May’s apartment where he finds a note that she’s left for a while and it’s for the best.  Somehow this news reaches the Daily Bugle and Spider-Man is accused of kidnapping Aunt May!

Episode 71.  James B and Eddie knock out three Marvel Team-Ups in less time than many podcasts can even complete their introduction.
(0:55) “As Those Who Will Not See”
It turns out that The Puppet Master was jealous of his science partner, Jacob, who had a loving wife and child.  One day in a fit of jealousy, they were fighting and the radioactive clay exploded and blinded that child, Alicia Masters. Will the Puppet Master restore her vision?
(4:11) “The Mighty Army of the Moleman”
Spidey is swinging through the city when he hears a cry for help.   Thinking it’s a typical robbery and that the culprit has gone into the sewers he climbs into the darkness only to find it's actually some of the moleman’s henchmen.  Why is Thor down in the sewers and will he help Spider-Man?
(7:20) Eddie learns when it comes to delivery services there are a lot of choices but there is a new sponsor better than the rest.
(9:04) “A Hitch in Time”
Peter Parker saves a woman from a mugging while Thor watches from above.  Something strange starts to happen in the sky and Thor entraps Peter and himself inside a safe area as their surroundings get frozen in time.

The Amazing Spider-Man 109 & Marvel Team Up 5 : Flash Thompson Dr. Strange Gwen Stacy The Vision The Puppet Master Monstroid

Episode 70.  James B and Eddie finish the 2-part Flash in Vietnam Spidey story with Dr. Strange. with some help from longtime listener and Spider-Fan Ian Cooper.  Later Ian helps James B and Eddie breakdown Marvel Team Up #5 as Vision and Spider-Man battle The Puppet Master.

Peter is in crisis! He can’t go save Flash without looking cowardly to Gwen. He forms a plan to kidnap himself as Spider-man and although rather distressing for Gwen, it works! As he frantically swings about the city an ethereal Dr. Strange guides Spidey back to his sanctum. Using the Eye of Agamotto Dr. Strange gives Spidey a vision of the captive Flash and it doesn’t look good.

Elsewhere, as he finishes his finest creation, the Puppet Master witnesses and investigates an alien ship crash. He finds a monstrous alien he names Monstroid and will send him to bring vengeance upon the Fantastic Four!

The Amazing Spider-Man 107-108 : Professor Smythe Spider Slayer Flash Thompson Gwen Stacy Vietnam & Surprise Trivia Game

Episode 69.  James B and Eddie finish the 3-part Spidey story with professor Smythe and his robots and start a new Spider-Man tale about Flash Thompson and Vietnam.  Then James B surprises Eddie with a trivia game about issue 107.
(1:15) The Amazing Spider-man 107  “Spidey Smashes Thru!” 
Professor Smythe has Spidey trapped in his web. He recalls his past defeats and returns tied up Spidey to his lair to show the gang leaders. Meanwhile on campus, Gwen wonders where Petey is as she talks to Randy. As she walks away Flash emerges from the bushes. He has a serious problem he can’t tell Gwen. Is Flash trying to say he has romantic feelings for Gwen here? Listen to find out.

The Amazing Spider-Man 105-106 : Professor Smythe J Jonah Jameson Spider Slayer Flash Thompson Gwen Stacy

Episode 68.  James B and Eddie return with Spidey from the Savage Land for two Spider-Man issues featuring professor Smythe and his robots.
(1:15) The Amazing Spider-man 105 “The Spider Slayer!”
JJJ is seeking vengeance for the humiliation Spidey put him through at the protest. He has commissioned Professor Smythe to build a new more powerful Spider Slayer. Smyth’s robot is formidable and through remote control JJJ takes it out to hunt.
(7:32) The Amazing Spider-man 106 “Squash! Goes the Spider!” 
We open with Spidey realizing someone is watching him through a camera and he quickly puts his mask back on. Spidey realizes Smythe is behind his unmasking. He swings off to Dr. Connors where he molds a mask of his own face.

The Amazing Spider-Man 103-104 : Ka-Zar, Kraven the Hunter, J.Jonah Jameson and Gorgeous Gwen Stacy in the Savage Land

Episode 67.  James B and Eddie take you to the Savage Land for two Spider-Man issues with a lot more J. Jonah Jameson and Gwen Stacy than Spider-Man.  
First in The Amazing Spider-man 103 “Walk the Savage Land”  (1:20) JJJ is holding a meeting in which he proclaims that Bugle’s sales are down because of television news shows! Ironically, JJ’s TV gives him a million dollar idea to go to Ka-zar’s prehistoric playpen, the Savage Land, to write and photograph a series with the help of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy.

It’s Christmas time.  Spider-Man can’t finish off the Sandman quick enough so Peter goes to get the Fantastic Four so he can get back to Gwendy on Christmas Eve.  
(3:39) Marvel Team Up 2 “And Spidey Makes Four”
Johnny Storm needs a friend and goes to find Spidey who brushes him off.  Meanwhile the Frightful Four have a plan. Down a member, they want to recruit Spidey.  Spider-Man shows up at FF HQ when, without any explanation, he silently helps the Frightful Four subdue the Human Torch. 
(9:38) Marvel Team Up 3 “The Power to Purge”
Spider-Man is having head problems again and can’t shoot webs or control his powers well. The Fantastic Four are visited by Michael Morbius fiance who retells Morbius Origin Story.  That’s right.  Morbius is back and someone is going to die.
(17:40) Marvel Team Up 4 “And then… the X-Men”
Morbius kidnaps the Professor and when Spidey shows up, he takes the blame in the papers. Of course Jorgensen is known by Professor X, who reaches out to 4 of his X-Men to follow up on the story in the papers and they go after poor Spiderman.  Oh and we have a sponsor (25:17)

The Amazing Spider-Man 102 : Morbius (Part 2 of 3) The Origin of Morbius & What If Spider-Man Had Kept His Six Arms

Episode 65.  James B and Eddie discuss the double sized The Amazing Spider-Man 102 (1:00) It's the backstory and origin of Morbius and they also tackle a "What If" issue that relates directly to ASM 102.   Plus a new sponsor that the listeners will enjoy.  All in Under 26 Minutes!  Why are you reading this, give it a listen!
Having recently been knocked out by Morbius, a groggy Spidey watches as Morbius fights and knocks out the Lizard. He is quick to suck a small amount of the incapacitated Lizard’s blood. Instead of fighting Spidey Morbius decides to fly off.  The Lizard awakes and, because of Morbius’ bite, now has the mind of Dr. Connors but remains in physical Lizard form. He transforms further into a half human half lizard body and loses his arm.
Later while Morbius sleeps, we see his backstory in his dreams. He is a Nobel prize winning scientist from Europe with a rare blood disease which is killing him. He charters a boat to test his scientific equipment. Accompanied by his assistant Nikos and loving but unknowing wife Martine, they sail into the ocean where Nikos electro shocks Morbius in an attempt to create blood cells.  What will happen?

The Amazing Spider-Man 100-101 : Morbius (Part 1 of 3) 1st Appearance, Six Armed Spider-Man & What If Spider-Man Had Stopped the Burglar

Episode 64.  Eddie and James B discuss ASM100 and ASM101 with the first appearance of Michael Morbius plus a bonus What If issue!  The Amazing Spider-man 100 “The Spider or the Man?” (01:25) opens with Spidey webbing up some average criminals. He declares he’s bored and maybe grown up because he’s ready to marry Gwen! He swings home and reveals he’s brewed a serum to get rid of his spider powers! He takes the untested potion and falls into a restless slumber.  What will happen?
Next a Bonus What If issue (03:45)  What If Spider-Man Had Stopped the Burglar Who Killed His Uncle?  He’s not a superhero!  After an amazing sponsor (11:20) the podcast ends with The Amazing Spider-man 101 “A Monster Called Morbius!” (13:50) where Spider-man needs a hideout until he solves his excess member problem. He tells Gwen and Joe Robbie he’ll be out of town for a while and calls his buddy Dr. Connors. The good Dr sends him to his mansion on Long Island. Once at the mansion, Spidey uses the basement lab to attempt to create an antidote for his arms but runs into Morbius the Living Vampire!
